December Already??

Here I sit trying to piece together this monthly puzzle . . . what happened to November. Whoosh and it was gone. Where was I during this rush of days and weeks?

First of all the month began as usual, bills, grocery shopping, house cleaning, three weekends of book signings …the normal stuff. Nothing to take note on. Then planning snuck in for the holiday. I was prepared. Set up the usual questions, what to bring to my friend’s house as she invited hubby and me to dinner. I learned a long time ago never to say ‘no’.

Our 50th wedding anniversary was on the 23rd, the day before Thanksgiving and we put a few plans in place, shifting our ideas to the first two weeks of December for a getaway. Fortunately, a secret party set up by our children and friends kinda buzzed my ear. It was planned for Saturday two days after Thanksgiving. No problem. Then I remembered Black Friday when I pushed the cart for friends who shopped till they dropped. For me it was people watching time.
Okay that was only three days. Nothing to worry about. But the calendar was getting busy.

Everything was planned and in place until November 13 when my adorable husband ended up in the hospital and I had to plan visits around my PT three times a week. Oops the month was filling up fast. Brought him home on the 18th and by the 22nd I had pneumonia. To add to the confusion, but a delight to all of us, was the arrival of our daughter, son-in-law and friend on the 22nd. Then our son and daughter-in-law flew in on Thanksgiving Day. My house overflowed with joy and activities for the entire holiday week. Sightseeing, beaches, party food preparation, etc were the wonderful times we had together…the week flew by. If you would like to see the party pictures, check out my facebook.

Suddenly I’m looking at November 30th, putting up the Christmas tree, decorating the house, and singing along with the holiday music, wondering how December was one day away. Was I going to be ready for Christmas? What about the holiday cards? Were the addresses up to date? Where was Christmas dinner to be held? Here, at my friend’s house, or at my sister-in-law’s? Were the gift cards for the grandkids ready? Did I have the gifts purchased for the three Christmas parties we planned to attend? Good grief, Charlie Brown.

My December calendar is full, book signings set up, parties annotated, PT scheduled, chemo marked down, etc, etc, etc. I sound like Yul Brenner, bless his soul.

Now a question to all of you ... How are my friends and readers coping with December and all of the holiday preparations? Give me a comment and let me know what you are up to. Would love to hear from you. Also don’t forget that a book is a fantastic gift for under the tree. It is a gift they will keep forever and possibly share with others. Just select under the buy button. It's quick and easy.

Christmas????OH NO! I've barely started and it is nearly time to plan the menu and put up the tree. Where does the time go?

Gwyn,
By comparison, I'm a loafer, a slaker, a wizz...your schedule would tire a 20 year old in the best of health. Hope your hubby is feeling much better and that your Chemo will ends soon. Happy Holidays!
